The mission of the Health and Wellness Department is to encourage students to develop skills, attitudes, and behaviors that enable them to make responsible decisions about their own health and wellness.

The Health and Wellness Department works with our entire school to actively engage students in the education of antiracism and social justice.

The athletic facilities at Reading Memorial High School (RMHS) stand as some of the premier high school and community sports structures in the Middlesex League. Serving as a vibrant hub for both RMHS Rocket Athletics and the broader Reading community, our multi-million dollar complex offers state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor spaces designed for peak performance, safety, and community pride.

Outdoor Stadium & Synthetic Turf Fields

Our expansive outdoor complex is designed to withstand heavy New England weather while providing top-tier playing surfaces for football, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, track, and youth sports.

  • Hollingsworth Stadium: The crown jewel of our outdoor facilities, featuring a full-sized synthetic turf stadium field under the lights, completely encircled by the championship-caliber Hal Croft Track.
  • Charlie Hardy & John Hollingsworth Turf Fields: Two additional premium synthetic turf surfaces located within the adjacent Birch Meadow Complex, ensuring ample, durable practice and game space for sub-varsity and town youth leagues.
  • Moscariello Ballpark at Morton Field: A beautifully maintained, full-sized baseball diamond equipped with dedicated batting cages.
  • Tennis & Multi-Purpose Courts: Dedicated outdoor court spaces utilized heavily by our varsity tennis teams and local recreational players.

The Hawkes Field House & Indoor Facilities

The RMHS Field House serves as our central indoor athletic hub. Thanks to recent major capital improvements and generous private donations, this year-round facility offers college-level amenities for physical education, varsity indoor sports, and town events.

The Vaccaro Gymnasium & Main Floor

  • Elite Hardwood Center Court: Features a state-of-the-art maple hardwood basketball and volleyball court, seamlessly integrated with a high-performance, resilient synthetic track surface layout.
  • Automated Seating: Equipped with fully automated, electrically powered bleachers to accommodate packed student sections and community events with ease.

State-of-the-Art Fitness & Training Center

  • Division I-Style Weight Room: Completely overhauled with high-end, professional-grade weight racks and custom bamboo lifting platforms.
  • Cardio Wall & Tech Integration: A dedicated cardio area featuring modern equipment integrated with interactive technology, including QR codes for student instructional use and workout tracking.
